Question: What kind of jobs for international business or marketing graduates?
(Posted by: cromartieINT31 on 2010-03-09 20:59:32)
Hi everyone, I am an International business and Marketing major. I will get my MBA in March so I am looking for a full- time job as of April. A lot of people look for internships, and it seems easier too get an internship that a job, but I will need money in order to pay off rent and expenses. Most full- time positions require experience in marketing or intl' business. I have 2 years of experience as an administrative assistant. What kind of job can I look for? Will it hurt my career if my first job after graduation is an administrative assistant? Thanks for your help. |

I recommend finding a smaller company. You can make a bigger impact more quickly. My company is an international infrastructure development company. We run very lean. A person with a similar background started as a Marketing Assistant (our term of AA) and within a couple of years was given a market research project in Africa. She made four trips to Africa leading the research team for a large development project. The key is to get in the door and then prove yourself. A smaller company (under $50 million) will give you a better opportunity to do that. Larger companies tend to "pigeon hole " people, and prevent them from expanding their horizons. What companies? That is impossible for me to say, but I suggest going straight to the company and not using Monster or the other job boards. You need to get past the HR manager and get to the marketing manager. Hope this helps. Good Luck |
