If you know of a specific life insurance policy, and know which company issued it, and merely want to know if you were left something in that particular policy, then you file a claim with the company that issued that policy for any money that you might be entitled to receive. If you do not know of a specific insurance policy from a specific company, and want to know how do find out if there was a policy, or you know that there was one, but do not know which company issued it, then you are probably out of luck. Each company keeps its own records, separately. There is no national database. You would have to check with every life insurance company, worldwide, one at a time. You could start by checking with the medical information bureau (MIB) to learn about recent applications for life insurance policies, but this will not include policies obtained before the mid-1990's. |
