There is an old adage, " It isn't important how you make you money. It's what you do with it that counts." An ambitious person with common sense, a high school diploma, and basic skills in money management will be much more prosperous in his lifetime than a medical school grad with a drug addiction and an appetite for loose women and fast cars.Education in the USA is lacking in respect to providing basic skills to our children in how to succeed without becoming a member of the rat race of corporate America. Children who do not have college as a goal in their life, or even those who do, should be taught basic money management, credit management, and long term financial planning.Imagine if you were going to play a game of Monopoly for the first time. You open the rule book and it says The rules have been around a long time. Everybody knows the rules already so there's no point in printing them. So, just play the game.
Why are convicts not taught money management in prison?
It seems like this would help get on the right track once they leave prison. My brother in law has been incarcerated both in Arkansas and Alaska but does not manage his money well at all.

Should public schools include basic money management in their curriculum?
Most kids who emerge from our inner city school systems have no knowledge of basic money management.Shouldn't we be teaching these kids how to management a household budget. How to manage a checking account. How to manage their credit. How to save for the furure. How not to over extend their credit.So many of these kids today leave high school completely unprepared for the pitfalls of the road ahead of them. They enter the workforce without any knowledge of how to manage the money they earn. Many inner city kids come from low income families and don't get this knowledge at home. Managing money is a basic skilled required to lift oneself out of poverty. Isn't this a skill we should be teaching all children?

Money management problem?please help?
I have this bad habit that I can not save money or i'd better say manage or handle my money properly. I get ripped off often....when I write down my expenses I lose a lot of money because people easily can charge me for the same service that for example somewhere else charge a lot less. I tell you example....the phone company charged me 180$ just because I cancelled my postpaid mobile bill to prepaid when I realised that is just a way they can take money from your account for no reason. I went to a skin clinic for Laser hair removal and then during consultation they offered me a lightening cream that they just sell as the sole company and said I have to use it because otherwise after laser I will have darkening of my skin so they charged me 200$ just for two creams..a sunscreen crean and a lightening cream ....I bought a book and and dvd for my child for 10$ and when I came home and watched the DVD it was just for 5 minutes and of no use...absolutely waste of money...and so on...
