Retirement

Question: Does anyone have any experience working within a retirement village?

Is there anyone who has worked in a retirement village/ nursing home who would be willing to answer a few questions for research for a novel I am working on? I would just like to know the ins and outs of working within a retirement village, what a shift entails, etc. If you are interested, please answer.

I worked in several assisted living facilities in north naples fl. the experience i had at two different places i volunteered at surprised me a lot the one in the bad neighborhood had a better care and attitude to help both the independent and assisted residents there they would not expect volunteers to take nursing roles over they were serious workers there no nonsense tolerated amongst the staff the Dr's and the patients they had better opportunities for their residents in both independent and assisted living facility i remember helping this legally blind computer teacher teach blind and sighted assisted residents how to use the computer he lost his patience in front of his supervisor and he got canned from his job there so i was the one left over to teach these residents how to use the computer a black cna wanted to help out in the computer room with me so we divided them into small groups which worked better for me and her she and i were best friends there we never fought or argued we acted like the walton's family and 7th heaven family there working together even though our skin color was different that didn't bother me one bit and it didn't bother her one bit either that surprised our black supervisor how different people from two different races and back ground got along so well working together. the other place i volunteered in was in a good neighborhood but when the new woman took over the establishment there it was a real hell hole to work in there i remember helping out in the activity room this new owner had a bad attitude right in front of the residents there calling them dumb stupid worthless saying they can't be taught anything new they are only good for bingo and board games other lessons here is a waste of time and effort here than i knew the owner didn't care for the residents there all she cared for was to make her profit off of the residents in care less freedom of choices there assigned lunch and dinner seating there so i voluntarily left my job at the nice neighborhood assisted living facility since lets just say that the new owner was only interested in making a profit off the residents there giving special privileges to lazy cna's there that sat on their rear ends doing nothing leaving unskilled volunteers to their work for them.
